Artylicious on TV!

Artylicious had the privelege of providing some photo canvases for the TV makeover show 'Cowboy Builders' hosted by Melinda Messenger. We had the pleasure of meeting Melinda and was filmed handing over the 4 photo canvases of the family, but unfortunately that bit ended up on the cutting room floor!! Oh, well at least our beautiful canvases got in the limelight!

What credit crunch?!

Brad Pitt, Audrey Hepburn, Take That, Jimi Hendrix, Rocky Balboa, Kylie, Laurel and Hardy, New York, Hong Kong, Grease, Cars, Fairies and Monkeys ... Just a small selection of the canvases we printed for our customers this Christmas. We nearly ran out of rolls canvas and staples but we managed to get all orders printed and out before Christmas even for those customers who left it til the last minute 3 days before Christmas!

It's a nice feeling knowing that all those people unwrapped their presents on Christmas Day to find their loved ones had bought them a beautiful piece of canvas artwork from Artylicious, we just hope it was what they wanted!

So far January is proving to be nearly as busy as December with people redecorating or buying birthday presents.

We've got some great things lined up this year, look out for us on TV again in a new Channel 5 home makeover show presented by Melinda Mesenger being aired on the 29th January. Were also featured in GQ mens magazine in February and March.

Keep checking on our ever expanding Cult Film canvas art section, we'll be adding even more fantastic designs.

Happy New Year to all our customers old and new.

press release

Venture was an affair of the ‘art’

Most people reach a stage or age where they re-evaluate their lives.

Turning 30 was Lindsey Hill-Mawson’s memorable turning point – in more ways than one. “I had a bit of a mid-life crisis!” she says.

The graphic designer was working for an advertising agency before launching Apperley Design eight years ago. She’d worked freelance between leaving the agency and setting up her business to build her contacts.

She has always liked art. “I love art... it gives you a certain feeling. Some colours put you in different moods,” says Lindsey.

Designing websites for customers gave Lindsey the idea to launch what she believes is a unique enterprise, selling ‘eye candy for walls and windows’ online.

“I was looking for some art for my own house and I couldn’t find anything I really liked,” she recalls.

Lindsey had done some of her own illustrations on the computer. The first few designs she did gave her the idea for ‘eye candy for walls’, the strapline she uses to promote her enterprise.

Artylicious is an online art boutique allowing customers to choose various designs from the website, following such themes as abstract art, landscapes, even graffiti which can be printed on canvas or roller blinds.

By supplying a photograph, customers can also personalise their purchase. Photographs on canvas enable customers to bring life to their walls and blinds. Baby images are particularly popular for nursery blinds. When we spoke she was eagerly anticipating the appearance of one of her printed roller blinds on a TV makeover show.

Lindsey says: “The canvases are a wonderful way to liven up a room, whether they entail a funky design or something more personalised with keepsake value. They are designed and hand-made to perfection and add that little bit of quirkiness to home decor.”

Keeping it in the family, Lindsey runs Artylicious with her husband, Adam, also a graphic designer. Landscapes and abstracts adorn their walls but the most precious images are those of their baby son Harvey.

“The photograph on canvas product is one I am especially fond of; mainly because I have a picture of my little boy Harvey spread across three canvases in his nursery, adding a real personal touch to the room. I would encourage all mums to opt for this keepsake canvas as a stylish way to adorn nursery walls.”

She is looking to mount images on deckchairs, while original art collections are also available of established local artists such as Mark Yates and Lisa Vallo.

“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Art can be anything. Art is anything that is pleasing to the eye,” says Lindsey.
